Why we hand-build our websites

No templates, no page builders. A quick look behind the scenes at how moreiraltd.com was made, and why.

Most small-business websites start life as a template. Ours started as a blank page.

The short version

Every page of moreiraltd.com was designed from scratch, then built as plain, hand-written code. No WordPress, no drag-and-drop builder.

Why bother?

  • It looks like nobody else. A template is shared by thousands of sites. A blank page isn't.
  • It's fast. No heavy plugins, so pages load quickly even on mobile data.
  • It's secure. There's no dashboard to hack and nothing to "update or else".
  • It's cheap to run. Our hosting costs nothing; we only pay for the domain.

And yes, it's still easy to update

The usual worry with hand-built sites is "I'll need a developer for every comma." With us, changes are quick and cheap, and they go live about a minute after we upload them.

The stack, for the curious

Designed on a canvas, built in HTML, CSS and JavaScript, stored on GitHub and served by Cloudflare. The contact form sends straight to our encrypted Proton inbox.
